To accelerate grassroots youth mobilization and advance national climate adaptation, SHISUK, alongside its youth wing YLCA, has entered into a three-year strategic partnership with Brighters Foundation to co-host LCOY 2026 Bangladesh and spearhead long-term ecological initiatives.
Dhaka, August 17, 2026 — Shikkha Shastha Unnayan Karzakram (SHISUK), alongside its youth wing Youth Leading Climate Action (YLCA), formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Brighters Foundation at a signing ceremony in Dhaka. The three-year bilateral agreement (2026–2029) establishes a long-term framework for strategic cooperation aimed at equipping young people across Bangladesh to lead climate adaptation, green economic initiatives, and environmental justice.
The agreement was signed by Sakiul Millat Morshed, Executive Director of SHISUK, and Saidur Rahman Siam, Founder of Brighters Foundation. The signing was witnessed by Tipu Sultan, Senior Program Officer at SHISUK, and Fariha Aumi, Chair of Brighters Foundation.
Immediate Priority: Co-Organizing LCOY 2026 Bangladesh
The cornerstone of the immediate collaboration is the joint planning, execution, and hosting of the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) 2026 Bangladesh as co-organizers and strategic partners.
Through this platform, both organizations will integrate crucial thematic priorities into the national youth climate agenda, including:
- Agroecology as Climate Action: Framing sustainable farming systems and safe food production as central climate solutions.
- Loss and Damage & Climate Justice: Amplifying community perspectives and structural vulnerabilities on the frontlines of climate impacts.
- Green Entrepreneurship: Equipping young innovators with sustainable business tools, mentorship, and access to green finance.
- Localized Youth Policy Advocacy: Formulating the official LCOY 2026 Youth Statement and Declaration to directly inform national climate governance and global platforms under YOUNGO and the UN Climate Change (COP) frameworks.
A Multi-Year Roadmap for Youth-Led Transformation
Beyond LCOY 2026, the MoA sets in motion a series of long-term collaborative initiatives running through 2029.
The joint roadmap focuses on mobilizing youth leaders in both rural and urban areas around agroecology, bio-inputs, and community enterprise approaches. The partnership will launch entrepreneurship boot camps, symposiums, and pitch sessions to connect emerging youth ventures with green financing.
Additionally, the two organizations will co-host civic campaigns, national youth dialogues, policy roundtables, environmental runs, and digital sessions—including the Tarunner Kotha webinar series. To ensure a sustained leadership pipeline, SHISUK, YLCA, and Brighters Foundation will also collaborate on institutional youth networks, including the National Coalition of Youth Leaders for Climate Action (NCYLCA) across universities.
Combining Institutional Expertise and Grassroots Power
The alliance combines SHISUK’s three decades of community enterprise and agroecological research with Brighters Foundation’s experience in youth campaigns, digital media, and grassroots volunteer engagement.
Under the agreement, SHISUK and YLCA will provide thematic frameworks, research-backed training curricula, and access to learning infrastructure—including SHISUK’s Eliotgonj Regional Center and field learning sites—while facilitating high-level policy linkages with government bodies and development partners. Brighters Foundation will spearhead event logistics, creative media campaigns, volunteer coordination, and youth outreach across regional and urban hubs.
To guide the operational rollout of this partnership, a Joint Steering Committee (JSC) composed of representatives from both organizations has been formed to supervise program execution, joint resource mobilization, and impact assessment. This united platform marks a decisive step toward institutionalizing youth participation in Bangladesh’s climate governance and ecological transition.
